Our Blog offers an construction insider's perspective on running a construction business.
"The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."
At the simplest level, to coach is to give instruction or advice. If you research long enough you can find a Coach for anything. In my opinion, the most rewarding part of being any kind of Coach is witnessing the person that you have spent your time, blood, sweat, and tears on achieve success. All because of the help that was given to them by you. I LOVE THAT FEELING. I thrive on it. Deep down inside I believe that coaching others toward success is what I was put on this earth to do. I just do it in the field of Construction.
My interest in construction dates back to high school when I swung a hammer for the first time. From there, everything about construction drew my attention. I have volunteered and worked with general contractors of all sizes, from one man shows to multi-million dollar companies. Through my observations, there were two things that set companies apart from each other. Knowledge and Resources. Those with both worked well in the field and ran their businesses successfully, for others without not so much.
When I speak of knowledge, I don’t mean knowledge of their craft or construction. Most of the people that I come in contact with know their field very well, are masters at it. The knowledge that they miss is one is which helps them run and generate business. When I say resources I mean money. Money buys the personnel, the software, material, equipment, and other things necessary to perform work. When a contractor is limited by one or both they can only go so far.
I have built up over 10 years of knowledge. I have seen the best and the worst of construction. I understand how multimillion dollar companies think. I have learned how they run their jobs. Their views of subcontractors and what makes them great to work with. I know what they avoid. I know what successful subcontractors offer and I can tell you what not to do if you don’t ever want to work in this industry again.
As a Construction Coach I offer knowledge. Whether my Client is big or small I offer knowledge within the limits of their resources. I want “the one person show” and the “wife and husband” to see success.
There is an uneven playing field in the construction industry. It’s my goal to level it.
